You're Not In Kansas Anymore - But It May Seem Like It

Hello everyone,

This is what happens to a corvette when it gets caught up in a Florida tornado. I was going to my grandparents house in Vero Beach, Fla. on the 4th of April at 3:30 am. I was driving down SR 40 thru Ocala when all of a sudden the winds started to pick up and before I knew it, a metal shed was flying across the road in my path and there was nothing that I could do but start to cry. The shed hit the front right of my car, then slid up the hood, across the windshield, down the back window, and across the back.

Now if that wasn't enough, a piece of tin got caught in the right rear tire and shredded it as well as the quarter panel. When it came up the hood it took the right headlight bezel, shredded the nose emblem and scratched the left headlight bezel. I was covered with the shed for what seemed a lifetime (actually 8 seconds), while I was meeting a semi coming the other way.

After I pulled over on the shoulder and cleaned my shorts, I could not find the shed that attacked me. The winds died down after 10 minuites, and except for the damage to my car and my tear soaked clothes I was ok. I thought all I had to worry about was hurricanes, but I guess I had brought some Kansas weather with me to Florida. The highway patrol said there were 3 other incidents 10 miles to the north of me with no injuries. The dealership estimated the dammage to be in excess of $8,795.00 with the possibility of another $3,000.00. I guess the bright side is that I wasn't hurt, my car wasn't totaled and when I get it back it will be like new.

I hope that everyone is in good health and doing fine, I think of all of my friends up there and can't wait to see you all again. I will send you some pics of my car when it is finished, and I will be whole again.

Take care my friends,

~*Dave
