November Meeting Minutes

SOUTH WINDS CORVETTE CLUB MEETING MINUTES

Date: 11-5-2008

1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER - President Darrel Ro.
- Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.
- Dinner reservations at Timberline. Approximately 18 people attended.
- Approximately 30 members including guests attended tonight's meeting.

2. WELCOME NEW MEMBERS & GUESTS - President Darrel Ro.
No guests who were introduced tonight.

3. SECRETARY REPORT - given by Dale Gr.
- Last months minutes are posted on the club web site.
- Send Jerry McK. or Dale Gr. an update if your contact or car information change.

4. TREASURER REPORT - given by Janet De.
- Contact Treasurer for details.
- Janet passed out copy of car show financial report & went over the numbers.

5. NCCC CLUB GOVERNOR MESSAGE - given by Mike Ro.
- Will send NCCC broadcast email updates to membership as he gets them.
- NCCC pins do not come with membership any longer. They have to be purchased separately. Motion was made by Cliff Cr. and seconded then passed to purchase NCCC pins for NCCC members who renew next year. The expense is around $200.

6. VICE PRESIDENT MESSAGE - given by Rick Nu.
- Not present.

7. CLUB COORDINATORS REPORT:
a) CLUB FUNCTIONS - given by Linda Pu. & Kathy We.
* RECAP OF LAST MONTHS DRIVE & DINE EVENT
Many thanks to Denny & Connie Po. for hosting the event.
16 people and 10 Corvettes attended the October event to the Augusta Playa Azule restaurant. After dinner they cruised to Freddy's Frozen Custard for dessert.

* UPCOMING MONTHLY DRIVE & DINE
Many thanks to Kathy We. and Linda Pu. for hosting next months event.
Email was sent to all club members with the event details.
- Date: Sat. Nov. 15th
- Time: Leave Parking lot of Riverlawn Christian Church, North Meridian Street & K96 at 5pm.
- Destination TBD

* SWCC CHRISTMAS PARTY
- Many thanks to Rick Nu. for hosting the annual Christmas party at the Willowbend Country Club.
- The annual SWCC Christmas party will be held on Sunday Dec. 14th at Willowbend Golf Club.
- Spouses are welcome (and there's no additional charge :-)
- You can show up at 4pm with a Hog Wild Pit Bar-B-Q dinner served at 5pm.
- Main course will contain meat, sides, bread and paper products.
- You can bring a desert if you like.
- Bring your own drink.
- Bring a gift if you want to participate in the gift exchange.
- Dirty Santa Gift Exchange:
- $20 - 25 gift is suggested. It's up to you if you want to spend more or less.

8. TWILIGHT CLASSIC CAR SHOW - Show Date was Sat. Sep. 20 at Central Community Church

Michael McC., Jerry Mck., Darrel Ro., Mike & Marcia Ro., Ron We.
a) CAR SHOW UPDATE - given by Kurt Ge. - Lots of information here. Contact Kurt if you have questions.
- Kurt talked about how the church distributed their portion of the car show proceeds.
- Nearly $2,000 was raised from the car show and the church also gave SWCC $1,000 from the show.
- Kurt made a motion; 2nd by Walter Da.; passed unanimous; to give $3,000 to the Wichita Children's Home.
- Ron We. will be looking at what the donation will be used for.

9. OTHER BUSINESS / DISCUSSION:
a) Reports of upcoming shows of particular interest to our members
- ACCC thinking about hosting a "Texas Mile" style road run event.
- Jerry McK. discussed this coming Saturday Ponca City car show. Jerry read an email received from the Cherokee Strip Corvette Club.

b) BRAGGIN' TIME - Brief report on shows attended by members last month.
- Bill Pu. is currently at the SEMA show.
- Mike & Marcia Row. won a trophy at the Maize Fall Festival car show
- Kurt & Karin Gei. won 2 trophies at the Rose Hill Fall Festival.
- David & Janet Den. attended the Mijares' family benefit car show.
- Some members went to the Toy's For Tot's toy run.
- Rick Nuc. sold his 65 big block convertible to an insurance firm who then sent it to California to be auctioned it off at a charity.

C) BOARD MEMBER NOMINATING COMMITTEE - committee members are Jim Pha., Walter Da. and Marcia Row.
- Committee will be responsible for posting 2 names for each position.
- They are planning to email ballots and will have ballots at the meeting.
- Jerry McK. suggested giving a club logo badge incentive to those members who serve on the board as a token of appreciation.

D) NEXT YEARS CLUB ACTIVITY COMMITTEE
- Kurt Gei. reported the un-official word from the church is we are welcome to come back next year.
- Jerry talked more about the meeting and passed out a voting ballot discussing two options for next year. See ballot for details.
- The majority of the club felt the show was a huge success. However, here are some constructive criticism / comments made regarding the car show.
> Not enough raised for charity.
> Didn't raise 3x the $ as last year while having 3x the number of cars.
> Some people worked harder than others.
> Pressure to show up and work the event.
> Not worth it for the amount of time/work spent on the event.
> Felt to much $ was spent on startup costs.
> No one asked the membership for approvals to spend $ on startup costs.
- Motion make by Mike Wal. to table the discussion until next month. Motion passed with two oppositions.

10. ENTERTAIN MOTION TO ADJOURN MEETING - Adjourned at 7:40 PM.
