1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER by President Jerry McK. at 6:30 PM and ended at 7:40 PM
- Darrel Rol. made dinner reservations at Shorty Small's.
- Approximately 25 people & 11 Corvettes attended dinner.
- Approximately 33 members including guests attended tonight's meeting.
2. NEW MEMBERS & GUESTS WELCOMED by President Jerry McK. None tonight.
3. OFFICER TIME:
- Minutes are posted on the club web site and NCCC Governor will send email updates as needed.
- Send Jerry McK. or Dale Gr. an update if your contact or car information change.
3a) TREASURER REPORT given by Janet De. Last month balance $4,657.10 This month balance $4,473.12
3b) CORVETTE TRIVIA QUESTION - given by Mike Ro.
3c) CORVETTE SHOW AND TELL - Auto part presented by Jacob Par. and Dallas Kel.
3d) RECOGNISE MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP BIRTHDAYS & "WHO AM I" QUESTION - given by Jerry Mck.
3e) MEETING ATTIRE/THEME announced by Jerry McK. This month "Favorite Hat" NEXT MONTH "Racing Team"
3f) Jerry McK. discussed the possibility of having some meetings at a restaurant. The membership was generally in favor but wanted to post a sign or message of meeting location with Davis-Moore reception desk for guests and members.
3g) Dale Gr. announced this year will be SWCC 25th anniversary. March 6th 1983 was the 1st ever SWCC meeting. Charter board members were: Bob Shelton as President, Sherry Colliatie as Vice President, Bobby Baker as Secretary/Treasurer. Here are some interesting fun facts: 3 of 17 charter members were women. Lake Afton All Wheels Show 1st show was May 22nd 1983. The formation of WACCC was mentioned July and August of 1983.
4. CRUIZIN' TIME to discuss club events:
4a) RECAP OF PRIOR CRUISES AND EVENTS - No club events last month.
4b) OUTLINE OF UPCOMING FUNCTIONS - Kathy We., Linda Pu. & Marcia Ro.
-> Please contact the committee members for your chance to host a drive and dine.
-> Broadcast emails will be sent regarding the event.
Many thanks to Kathy, Linda & Marcia for organizing next months Corvette Chili Cook-off.
- Date: February 21st Time: 5:45 Destination: Auburn Hills Pool Clubhouse
4c) March 21st visit Creative Composites car collection organized by the Geis'.
4d) April 25th South Winds Corvette Club Spring Fling dance and dinner. Kathy, Linda & Marcia presented possibility of hiring band and reserving restaurant banquet hall. Club and members may share costs of event.
4e) Bill Pu. asked the membership if there was interest in hosting the River Festival car show on Sat. May 16th. from 11:00 to 5:00. It would be in the Delano District west of the river on Douglas. Possible 50 to 60 cars. River Festival would advertise SWCC as hosting the event and we could display our club banner. There would be no expenses other than trophies. Proceeds would go to our club. Bill is asking for club input, need decision this week. Bill will be asking who will be covering the insurance.
4d) The Keller's announced they are planning to invite the club to Kendra's wedding on April 25th.
5. DRIVIN' AND BRAGGIN' TIME - Take the wheel for your chance to brag a little.
-> Rules: Nothing negative, topic must be related to club activity or Corvette and try to limit to 3 minutes. Caution, you can be issued a DUI by the Officers.
5a) Ron and Cathy Bl. talked about their recent purchase of a brand spanking new yellow C6 Z06.
5b) Rick Nu. and others told a few stories of their adventures at the Barret Jackson car auction last month.
5c) Darrel Ro. and other told a few stories of their adventures at the NCRS Winter Regional Judging Event in Orlando Florida.
6. OTHER BUSINESS / DISCUSSION:
6a) Jerry McK. talked about the car show committee meeting. He announced and explained about the committee and sub committee members. See attached document for list committee members. The committee would like to solicit participation from other car clubs in town. A vote was made 2nd and passed to allow the committee members to represent SWCC in hosting the car show.
6b) Mike Wal. mentioned this Friday and Saturday is the Model A swap meet. Also, Monte Reins with ACCC wants to know if anyone is interested in bringing back the Corvette tuner guy.
6c) Jerry McK. read a thank you letter sent by the Wichita Children's Home for our donation of last years car show proceeds.
6d) A $100 check was presented to Rick Nu. for hosting the clubs Christmas party at Willowbend Country Club. Rick donated the facility without charging the club. Since he would not take any money for the facility, it was decided to make the check out to a charity if his choosing which was the Boy's & Girls Club.
6e) Cliff Cr. announced the formation of the Kansas Chapter of NCRS. The Kansas Chapter signed 31 charter members. The NCRS requires a minimum of 25. The Kansas Chapter is currently "proposed". If NCRS votes to accept the Kansas Chapter, then it will be in a "probationary" state for one year. SWCC member Kurt Ge. was instrumental in coordinating with the National NCRS board to create the Kansas Chapter. All of the charter board members are also members of SWCC. Board members include Cliff Cr. as Chairman, Kurt Ge. as Vice-chairman, Dale Gr. as Secretary and David Den. as Treasurer. Several members were also appointed to sub-committees.
7. DRAW FOR DOOR PRIZE - Door prize won by Janet Den.
