June Meeting Minutes

SOUTH WINDS CORVETTE CLUB MEETING MINUTES

Date: June 2, 2009

1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER by President Jerry McK. at 7:00 PM and ended at 7:45
- Approximately 37 members including guests attended tonight's meeting.
- Tonight's meeting was held at Players on W. 21st.

2. NEW MEMBERS & GUESTS WELCOMED by President Jerry McK. were Wayne Sch.

3. OFFICER TIME:
- Minutes are on the club web site and NCCC Governor sends email updates as needed.
- Send Jerry McK. or Dale Gr. an update if your contact or car information change.

3a) CORVETTE TRIVIA QUESTION - given by Mike Ro.
3b) TREASURER REPORT given by Janet De. announced this month balance as $ 3,964.62
3c) RECOGNIZE MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP BIRTHDAYS & "WHO AM I" QUESTION - given by Jerry Mck.
3d) CORVETTE SHOW AND TELL - Dallas Kel. brought in a 61-62 hardtop center trim piece and Dave Bol. brought in a door latch from a C5.
3e) MEETING ATTIRE/THEME announced by Jerry McK.
This month was Sharks and Stingray night. You might recall last month was also Sharks and Stingray night. Since it rained last month Jerry wanted to try it again. Well, Sharks and Stingrays must love the water because it rained again tonight. Next Month... Sharks and Stingrays come heck or high water!
3f) OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS / DISCUSSION
Jerry discussed have our meetings at places other than Players. Many people like the Players location but didn't like the background noise of dinner being served during the meeting. Jerry will take all this into consideration for next months location.

4. CRUIZIN' TIME:
4a) RECAP OF PRIOR CRUISES AND EVENTS
Many thanks to Joe Elliot for hosting last months drive & dine.
13 people and 5 Corvettes attended the May event to Beaumont, KS. Lot's of positive comments about this trip including a couple of airplanes were there and it was a beautiful day for a morning cruise.

4b) OUTLINE OF UPCOMING FUNCTIONS - Linda Pu., Marcia Ro. & Kathy We.
-> Please contact the committee members for your chance to host a drive and dine.
-> Broadcast emails will be sent regarding the event.

- DATE: June 20
- DESTINATION: Hutchinson Salt Mine and Museum. Dinner at Carriage Crossing after salt mine tour.

4c) 25TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE UPDATE - Janet Den.
- July 11th will be an evening starting at Automobilia's Moonlight Car Show then on to the Looney Bin Comedy club.
- July 18th scavenger hunt, poker run in the morning. The evening main attraction will be dinner and dancing at Old Cow Town Museum in Turnverein Hall.
- 25th anniversary refrigerator magnets will be free to all club members and commemorative ball caps will be for sale at $5.00 each.

4d) Jerry McK. is looking for lots of participants in the upcoming (June 6, Sat.) Ponca City Corvette Show. Last year we won the club participation award and would like to be in the running again this year. Jerry will send out a broadcast email with details.

4e) Bill Pul. is looking for lots of participants in the upcoming (June 14, Sun.) Lake Afton All Wheels show. Our club will once again caravan out and set up with Air Capitol Corvette Club. There's usually around 2,000 cars at this event.

4f) Jerry gave an update on the upcoming 24 hours of Le Mans and the significance of Corvette Racing at the event.

5. DRIVIN' AND BRAGGIN' TIME - Take the wheel for your chance to brag a little.
- Bill Pul. gave update on on the River Festival Car show. There appeared to be a lower turn out this year due to the threat of bad weather and minimal advertising. The River Festival Committee really appreciated our involvement and would like us to help out next year. The membership sounded like they would be interested in helping out next year.
- Jerry McK. gave an enthusiastic re-cap of the High Speed Touring event held at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. There were just a few members who took the opportunity to stretch the legs of their daily drivers and they exclaimed it was well worth the trip.
- Rick Nuc. gave an update on the Great Bend car show. Cliff Cra., Dave & Janet Den, won trophies.
- Darrel Rol. gave an update on the Burns car show. 150 cars were entered including 4 of our members cars. Darrel Rol. and Jerry McK. won trophies.
- Ron Wes. gave an update on the Mound Ridge car show. Ron Wes., Darrel Rol. and Jerry Mck. won trophies.
- Jerry McK. is looking for people who are interested in taking a trip in 2010 to Reno Nevada for the Hot August Nights car show. Let him know if you are interested.

6. OTHER BUSINESS / DISCUSSION:

7. DRAW FOR DOOR PRIZE - Won by David Bol. who drove the oldest (1976) and only Stingray tonight.
