CORVETTE DOUBLES UP AT LE MANS

On the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet and the 10th anniversary of Corvette Racing's first win at Le Mans, corvettes pulled off an exciting comeback win in both the GT Pro and Amateur categories at Le Mans. Shown above is the Pro class winning #73 car piloted by American Tommy Milner, Antonio Garcia, and Olivier Baretta. Milner was quoted as saying "An American kid, driving an American ICON and winning at the World's Most Prestigious sports car race is an unbelievable dream come true".
For those of you that did not hang in there during the wee hours of the morning you missed an incredible, determined charge by Corvette Racing's second car. The #74 sister corvette had dominated the race until crashing while trying to pass a lapped car. This handed the lead over to a Ferrari which had over a lap lead on the #73 corvette. For over 4 hours the corvette chopped 1.5 seconds a lap off of the deficit and ran down the Ferrari, eventually taking the lead and the win by over 2 minutes. The win gives Corvette Racing seven class wins since 2001 - an unbelievable domination.
The winning corvette completed 2,669 miles in the 24 hour race which means that they AVERAGED 111.2 mph. Keep in mind that this includes pit stops, driver changes, and several laps under caution. Can you imagine setting your cruise at over 100 and leaving it there for 24 straight hours?
Shown below is a picture of the GT Amateur class winner, also a corvette. This car is a year old C6R sold by Corvette Racing to Larbre Competition who guided the car to a decisive victory in the class. We should all be proud of the accomplishments of Corvette Racing and appreciate the impact that they have on the production corvettes that we drive today.

THANK YOU CORVETTE RACING !!!
